Luke. I am your mother. I made your costume. I bled on it. Sorry. It’s every boy’s dream to be Luke Skywalker, at least it is mine. So, we’ve both had a turn in our Luke Skywalker costume. The costume’s not hard. Let’s go!

I made a karate outfit. This was a mistake. I see karate costumes all the time at Goodwill. If this is something your child would like to, I say keep an eye open.
I made his little leg wraps. I just sewed little strips of wrap together, with velcro up the back — just like a boot cover. In retrospect, ace wraps would have been just as good (also great for any Halloween first aid emergencies).
But, these do look nice. Throw in a belt and a green lightsabre and you’ve got one Skywalker boy.
As for the jedi robe — it’s just a robe, made out of a brown crushed velvet fabric. I think I may have even left the edges raw, because that stuff doesn’t unravel and I’m starting to get lazy in my old age.
I think that’s the most wanted costume in the bin at this point though, because in a pinch it could also be Harry Potter robes. The key to good costumes is items that can be used in many different themes. I also made a vest for him out a nu-buckísh type material (similar to what I made the boot covers with). Super easy, and very doable. And that’s it. go be a Jedi today!
