It hasn’t been my favorite week to belong to my church. Look down there, it says “I’m a Mormon” and it ends with “It makes me Happy” — and if I was being honest I’d say “It makes me mostly happy.” Being LDS has a lot of obligations that come along with it, and we have welcomed those obligations with open arms — but at the same point it leaves less margin in our lives. I’ve been living with a very slim margin this week, and I felt the church pushing hard on me.
I feel like our last General Conference, many of the talks were about how hard it is to be a Mormon — how much is expected and how the world sees their lives very differently than we do. I have actually listened to Elder Holland’s talk a few times. I know that the feeling I had last week will increase. I’m grateful that he gave that talk — it’s important to remember that life isn’t all roses.
But, on Friday night I fed the missionaries. I had a fairly strong desire to quit the church for much of the meal. Too much was asked, too much required. Again, I had added feeding the missionaries to a week that I was already working a lot, doing my regular PTO stuff, having 3 kids and this blog. The margins were PUSHED. Frankly, I hated most things at this point — but I know Satan pushes hard to make the church be my target of anger.
And then they showed me this movie.
Have you seen it?

My ❤️ hotels for your 2024 trip:
– Best Western Park Place — it’s the CLOSEST hotel, has a breakfast and if it’s available for your dates, BOOK IT. If not, check out the Tropicana.
– Cambria – this is my favorite one with a great price point for larger groups – has a water park and free breakfast (not walkable though) – but if you want a walkable suite check out Castle Inn
#BecauseofHim I moved to Arizona when Drew didn’t have a job. He gave us a job and found us a home with wonderful friends and amazing schools.
#BecauseofHim I am able to find solace when I am sad. When I fit too much into my day, He finds me a margin to take a breathe.
#BecauseofHim we have a wonderful Earth full of beautiful things to look at and enjoy
#BecauseofHim I have scriptures to turn to to find out what others have done when they reached a similar situation
#BecauseofHim I am able to let it go when I am angry. He takes that for me, so very willingly.
#BecauseofHim I see all the blessings I have. I look for things to thank Him for. It makes my life so much more golden.
#BecauseofHim life isn’t going to be easy. I think it is such a vivid example that he came into praise and worship on Palm Friday and they hated and killed him by the end of the week.
He was a wonderful man who lived on earth, was killed because people didn’t want to hear what he had to say. He rose on Sunday morning, perfect and done with a giant sacrifice for each of us. I’m am SO grateful #BecauseofHim.
What have you done #BecauseofHim? Happy Easter everyone. It is truly the happiest day of the year.

My absolute favorite shirt in the world is from Goodwill! I get compliments on it every time I wear it, and I’ve never seen anything like it in any store. It’s amazing what you can find there if you take the time to look! I love the comment that calls it GW Boutique…I might steal that one! lol 🙂
