In this post we’re going to review some of the best buffets in Vegas, as well as going over some rules that will help you enjoy it more, pay less and have a great experience at any of these magnificent buffets!
Showgirls, billboards, giant hotels and buffets all come to mind when you think of Las Vegas.
Vegas is a fun town full of fun things to do and see and while I love a good hotel stay {sigh, the joy of someone else making my bed, is pretty amazing} I mostly think Buffets.
{probably, mainly because I don’t gamble, drink or go to nudy-shows}
I’ve loved them since I was little and I love them now.
But, today I am sharing my seven cardinal rules for the Las Vegas Buffet, and I will also share some our favorites (and not favorites)BTW, if you’re looking for hotels, I ALWAYS check reviews on Trip Advisor — it makes deciding where to stay SO much easier! And DON’T miss my family vacation ideas!
- Once you’ve spent the money to eat there, that’s a sunk cost. Don’t feel like you need to go to the most expensive items and only eat that to get your “money’s worth”. I hate Crab. It’s hard to get out of its shell, I just don’t find it worth the effort (mainly because I’m not a huge fan of the taste – I’d take shrimp over it any day). I do, however, like butter – so I often will grab a leg or a claw, just to enjoy some butter. BUT, don’t just do it because it’s pricey. Once you’ve spent the money, just fill your belly with stuff you really enjoy!
- A good buffet is all about the taste. Don’t load up your plate with anything. Just try lots of different things. You can always go back for seconds.
- If the buffet you’re eyeing isn’t well-rated, don’t do it. If you’re there for great food, you want a place that has great food – not just tons of poorly made food. You might as well just grab something at a fast food joint!
- Take a tour. Check out all the offerings before you start. That way you know what you’re thinking would be tasty and you can save yourself for that.
- Get it while it’s there. Buffets are a bit like Costco, in that even though it’s there now – it might not be there in a few minutes, so grab a bit now if looks tasty, even if it’s not the “traditional” time for it (although I do like to be orderly and go salad/ Main course/dessert when I eat).
- Go before the price changes – usually, the buffet serves all day and you can go a bit before the price goes up, and pocket the difference. Be sure to show up about 30 minutes or so before the changeover happens as buffets often have a line.
- Don’t be afraid to not eat something. These buffets are pricey. And I am not going to continue to eat something that I am not loving. I am not inherently wasteful, as I only take small portions of things, but I also want to leave feeling like I tried a lot of different things, and found my favorites.
Best Buffets in Vegas
We’ve experienced a few buffets in Las Vegas and I thought I’d share what we’ve learn
Le Village Buffet in Paris Hotel
This place has all you can eat crepes. And GOOD crepes, made to order. And they are TA-sty! I had a friend who recommended going there, and I am glad that we did. This is a tasty buffet for breakfast.
However, the crepes were a high point. I would I could have eaten 3 of them. And frankly, for the price we paid – we easily cold have . Right across from the buffet is a tasty looking crepe shop. They’re about 10 bucks/pop. Looked and smelled amazing.
From this we learn that f there is one thing you just really love – then EAT THAT THING – don’t go to a buffet! The price of the full buffet here didn’t actually end up feeling worth it.
The rest of the food was just “meh” at best. The variety wasn’t great. It happened to be Chinese New Year and the asian food was HORRIBLE. They specialize in “French” food (or an American version of French food). Let them specialize. And never eat their Asian dumpings. Ew.
Bacchanale Buffet, Caesars Palace
I had heard nothing but amazing things about this place. The reviews go on and on, and on and…. Well, you get the picture. Plus, it’s Cesar’s the ultimate in luxury on the strip.
Of course, Caesars is like a maze with no cheese. That place is huge, and hard to navigate, but we did find it. After watching the fall of Atlantis in the forum shops. So. Bad.
But, back to the buffet. This place really IS huge and has a HUGE variety of foods from all over the globe.
I didn’t have anything that I didn’t like at the Bacchanal. Of course, this is a buffet, and some foods were just not meant to be on a buffet line or aren’t as good after sitting out for a while.
They have tons of Asian food. It was the best sushi we tried, and my husband lived in Korea for two years and really enjoyed their Asian offerings (including Korean BBQ).
The cheese offerings were amazing (I’m a big cheese fan, sue me).
However, my favorite thing was the fresh-squeezed juices, and this is where I applied rule #1. Even though fresh squeezed juice isn’t as expensive as crab legs, I absolutely loved it – so I had 3 bottles. I was happy.
They have a ton of ceviche which was really tasty. I had actually not tried much ceviche before I went to Vegas this time and I went home absolutely loving it.
The desserts were the best we had, in general. They had tons of items to try and their tiny chocolate molten cakes were amazeballs.
They have tons of meat options and delicious salads. This is truly the taster’s buffet, but it still did come in behind….
The Wicked Spoon, Cosmopolitan Hotel
This is my third visit to the Wicked Spoon. I’ve had dreams about it in the past and I am not ashamed to say that I love this buffet, but I went in with an open mind and a husband who had never been there before.
FYI, on weeknights you can’t go at the change of the pricing, as they close from 2 to 5. Bummer.
Wicked spoon is a tasting buffet. The majority of items are dished for you in small tasting dishes.
The variety is amazing, and they really are putting out fresh food very frequently.
They do have a carving station, and I did get a couple of crab legs, but I much prefer their house made items – things like salads and dishes. I just think they’re far superior.
The main thing I like about them is all the different tastes. It just seems like each dish is taken really seriously. No two dishes are similar and you tastebuds get a little joyride.
I will say that I find the desserts a bit lackluster. I loved their macaroons and they had a ton of gelato offerings. I LOVEd their apple crumble. So delish. However, the other things seemed sort of bland and unexciting. I seemed to remember dipped strawberries there before, but there weren’t any this time.
In all reality, I think Wicked Spoon and Bacchanal are fairly similar, but the Wicked Spoon is cheaper by 10-15 bucks/person, plus the service seemed better. I was just wow’d again by the Wicked Spoon. I will likely dream about it again someday. 🙂
We aren’t always buffet people. I just think it’s fun to try lots of different things and see what you enjoy. This weekend of buffets sure did that.
And now, I think it’s time for a nap.
What about you? What’s your favorite buffet? I have also heard good things about the Spice’s Buffet in Planet Hollowood as well as the Rio Seafood buffet.
Tell me in the comments, so I can try them next time. 🙂
