Parenting teenagers is some of the toughest parenting stuff. And it comes at a time that your parenting muscles feel fatigue from doing it so long.
Luckily, you can draw from a well of strength and experience as you navigate those rough waters.
As a note: you don’t see a lot of people saying “this is the way to get teens to ________” because it is 100% a crapshoot and every kid is so different. SO different from newborn life. No system will save you!
Disciplining Teens
Disciplining teens can be difficult, but I find that spanking isn’t the answer. I find that logical consequences are the best at discipline — especially for teens.
I often find that the lessons I learned in potty training apply to teenagers as well!
Educating Teens
Teens need to learn, right. Sometimes we find that they LOVE to learn, or sometimes they struggle. I’ve found that all of my kids read less as they get colder.
Of course, education goes beyond school. We need to talk to our teens about sex (I also have a podcast on talking to kids about the birds and bees too).
Sending Teens to College
At some point those kids will leave you. You’ll send them to college. You’ll need this dorm checklist.
Learning to let go is SO hard.
Teens Working
I got my first job as a babysitter, but I think it’s really important to think a lot about when a teen is ready to babysit.
And yup, sometimes your teen will hate you. And that’s OK.
Clothes for Teens
My teens don’t shop well. I tried stitch fix with my teen son, and I also tried Stitch Fix with my tween daughter and had some mixed results.
