Best Home Organization Course for Families
If you’re a busy mom who craves organization but also realizes that it won’t be perfect (and you don’t even need it to be perfect) The Organized Home is the class for you!
Benefits
This course breaks it down into room types. Each room has tips for:
- Decluttering
- Creating Zones in the Room
- Ideas for organization that work (tested designs)
- Assignments for you to take action
Each month includes a new workbook or video that keeps the course fresh and exciting.
Price
$15/month (cancel at any time – no commitment) or $97 for a full year of access
Can also be combined with her Family Routines course that helps organize your family members at just an extra $5/month or another $20 for a year’s access.
Con’s
This isn’t for a perfectionist. If you need matching bins and perfection I’d look into Alejandra’s course.
Best Perfect Organization Course:
If you really want perfection in your organization, this is the class for you. Alejandra is one of the most well-known Youtube organizers and has a huge community of people who want to organize like her.
Benefits
Alejandra has tons of great ideas and ways to try new things. She is extremely encouraging and understands how overwhelming it can seem.
Her “Course” also includes live decluttering sessions with Alejandra (so, more of a community than a course). There are 18 sessions/month, so can likely find one that fits for you! Plus, you can watch any of the replays also.
It also includes expert Q&A sessions and some small group sessions.
She also has a TON of students with great reviews of her class.
She is also joined by a few other “coaches” in her class (all well-known Youtube names) to give a well-rounded approach.
Included as bonuses are some course-type information to help get you started.
Price
$47/month or $197 for 6 months (she says that it is over a $4,400 dollar value — but those dollar values seem inflated).
Con’s
It is a LOT of information that might be overwhelming
Alejandra has a perfection way to her trainings that I found unrealistic
If you’re not into the “community” aspect, you’d be paying for things you won’t use.
Best at Teaching Kids to Organize
This program is meant to empower kids with organizational skills so they can be responsible.
Benefits
This program is 100% aimed at parents and kids to teach life skills to kids. They have a section for kids 0-5 (not sure how a 0 organizes, but I digress), one for ages 6-17, and another one from 16-25.
I like that they have organization tips for all types of ages (because we all know that different-aged kids need different things).
It also looks like it covers all aspects of life organization beyond just organizing their own spaces, or helping you in yours. Planning your week, getting things for school, etc.
Price
$299
Con’s
That price is a lot for families with many financial priorities.
I am not sure her approach would work well with my older kids, and the printables are definitely aimed toward younger kids.
Kids (especially teens) may not be super accepting of this type of information coming from you.
Best for Different Organizing Styles:
I have watched Cas on Youtube for a long time. She has many ideas for families and is a “Certified Organizational Specialist™” (not sure what that is, exactly).
Benefits
Cas takes into account many different TYPES of organization as she helps families organize. Do you like piles, or baskets/bins? What works best for you? She calls these “Clutterbug Organization Styles”
She also has a Facebook group for a community.
It gives you lifetime access to the program.
You can also certify as an organization specalist™.
Price
$149 for lifetime access
Con’s
The price is a bit much if you’d just like to use it for a few months and then take it on your own.
You may feel confused by the different organization types and not feel adequately prepared to pick yours.
I think you are paying for the organization specialist training, which may not be important to you.
Best for Just Decluttering
Sarah was previously known as The Earlybird Mom and has offered great tips on Decluttering for a long time. This course seems to be entirely on decluttering (which is the basis for good organization).
Benefits
While this course seems to be entirely on decluttering, there are other “organization” ones that help you beyond that.
She offers a LOT of different courses and some low-priced products to get you started in one or two areas easily.
She offers a “Declutter Coach” professional training if that is something you are interested in (and offers coaching to her clients — presumably with these coaches).
She talks a lot about “new ways” to look at things, and to get unstuck.
She seems more like a “coach” that kind of holds your hand through the process. If that’s something that you’re wanting, this could be the one for you. She also seems to have other coaches that help as well.
Price
Since Sarah has a few offerings the pricing looks to be starting around $14 (for a mini-course) all the way up to $997 for a year membership to her Organize My Home Membership
Con’s
There are so many offerings that I am not sure what I would pick.
The membership seems quite pricey and seems designed to not set you up for success on your own (but to stay with her to get her tips).
Best Free Organization Class
The 5-Word Organization Challenge
I get overwhelmed just looking at a lot of these sites. The 5-word organization challenge really breaks it down simply to help you get started and NOT feel overwhelmed. It’s good stuff.
Organization and how you get there can be a pretty personal thing. I hope you find the perfect class for you on this list. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to leave them in the comments and I’ll get those answered for you.
Kaylene says
Thank you so much for these reviews! I am going to be making my own organizing course so I was just searching to see what was already out there and pricing. My approach and product ideas are different than any of these posted which makes me happy and gives me perspective on prices different course options are priced at. You did a great job explaining each one!
