My Easter Thoughts

First off, I played the flute in church today. And, I had my new outfit on today. Check me out. I figure if I don’t keep on developing my talents I’ll lose them… although I do feel as though I’m performing a lot lately. BUT, my friends, that is a blog for another day.
This past week Conner and I read a book called “The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes” by Dubose Heyward and illustrated by Marjorie Flack. I thought it was a great Easter book (and I have a hard time finding great Easter books, although I have vowed to do better next year). It is about all the bunnies out there in bunny-land waiting for the great grandfather bunny to chose the next easter bunny (and fyi, there are apparently 5 of them) and this country bunny from the time she was little, said that SHE was going to be the next Easter bunny (and everyone laughed). Then, the country bunny had a bunch of baby bunnies and the people laughed even harder. But she worked so hard at being a mother she had all those bunny babies (Who were now little bunny children) running the house, and then there was a call for a new bunny. The Great Grandfather bunny didn’t pick any of the bunnies who thought themselves to be the fastest or the most cunning, but instead chose the mother bunny. And she does a great job, blah-blah. Anyway, read the story with your kids, it was great.
I was most touched by the part about how moms still can be cuning, quick, but most of all they’re caring. I think it taught a lesson to Conner and it was a great Easter story to boot.
I am so thankful that Easter is always on a sunday. I am glad that I have the chance to reflect on the Savior’s love for me and how I can better make use of the things he has already done for me. So, now I’m going to go cook a ham.
