I had just gotten off a walk with my friend, and housework is staring at me like a hungry Hannibal Lecter. Could I really vacuum out my couch? The popcorn between cushions said it needed to be done — but my body. Not so much.
In walks Mr Maroon 5. In walks my headphones at a volume that I would normally yell at my kids for having it at. Suddenly I’m dancing and vacuuming. BTW, my vacuum is a fairly decent partner. Here are my current songs that help me be productive
Here’s 5 songs that really get me going. Hopefully they help you too!
1. Maps by Maroon 5. Where were you when I needed to vacuum? Haha. I’m going to try to limit the Maroon 5 on this list, but I do really like that group. I also like to sing along when he says “Following” in this song. Tell me i’m crazy. Thanks. 🙂
2. Brave by Sara Bareilles. This one is GREAT if I have a personal problem to mull through while I clean. I mean seriously — if I actually SAID what I need to say…. well. I probably would never stop talking.
3. I Know Things Now from Into the Woods — honestly, ANY musical song that I know the words to by heart is good to go. I am good to go with Wicked, Oklahoma, Into the Woods and of course — Frozen. That isn’t to say I love all the songs, but I love “I Know Things Now” (do not put your faith in a cape and a hood). I just think it has a good message. 🙂 There is just something about belting out a good show tune. Maybe I was Ethel Merman in a former life?
4. Copacabana by Barry Mannillow — I love the songs of my youth. Other favorites are most anything from Chicago or Sting. I just like songs that remind me of good times. Plus, this one is fun to dance to while dusting. 🙂
5. The Man who Never Lied — I couldn’t finish the list without another one from Maroon 5. There’s something about the beginning of this song where it goes left right {you’ll have to listen to it to understand what I’m talking about, but the song swiches from the left to the right side} that wakes up my brain. Also, my husband consistantly lies about when he’ll be home. It’s something I expect but when I’m in a mood about that…. well, you know. Belt it out. Me and Ethel.
