What to have in your purse? It seems like I went a long time not having what I NEEDED in my purse. I feel like I have it down a bit better now.
I, like most women am a bag lady. I like to have lots of different bags for different things.
I have 5 main bags:
1. A larger purse for when I’m hauling a lot of stuff with me. It was great when I had a lot of diapers/wipes/sippy cups, and it’s still great so I keep it around. I still have to bring a lot of stuff sometimes. This is my most well-packed bags and has a small “walking pharmacy”in it (although, MUCH smaller then Jen’s) for when I need stuff on the go.
2. I have a tiny bag. It’s the bag I use most often. It’s pretty small. Mostly holds my wallet and the essentials.
3. I have a larger medium-sized bag that perfectly holds my tablet, in addition to my wallet and the essentials.
4. I have a work bag. This mainly holds the essentials, a stethoscope and pens.
5. I have a church bag. Mostly primary stuff. Princess P has her own bag of toys for the first meeting. It also contains my 5 essentials.
So, I tend to keep my 5 essentials in each of my bags (with bag #1 having more “essentials” in a walking pharmacy, which can go in any bag that I need it to, but it usually stays in the big bag).
1. Kleenex. Have you seen their new folding packages? I love them, less of a chance that the kleenex will fall out of its container and get all gross.
2. Anti-bacterial. If it fits, I try to do some antibacterial lotion from Bath and Body, that way I hit two purposes of lotion and antibacterial.
3. Wipes. I keep a few small packets of wipes on hand in each bag because wipes are super handy. I’m no longer wiping bums, but I still gotta wipe other things (including my own hands, I’m a messy gal). If anyone has a brand of wipes that stays moist and is great for clean-ups let me know, because I’m almost out of huggies {2 years after I’m done potty training}.
4. Drugs. I keep a child-sized tylenol bottle of drugs in my purse. I’ve been thinking about getting the small bottles of tylenol/advil from the Dollar store instead. It’s important to me that this item is child-safe. Not that I think my kids will fish around for drugs in my bag, but it keeps it safe. Within the drugs I keep 2-3 doses of Tylenol, 1 dose of Advil (I don’t usually take advil, it ruins my stomach, this is for my husband), a dose of pepto, some zyrtec and a cough drop.
5. Lip gloss, colored is preferred. I just feel better with a bit of gloss on. That is all. 🙂
Frankly, that’s it. I might have an emergency maxi pads here or there….
So, inquiring minds are wondering — what do YOU have in your purse? What are you essentials? Do you have as many bags as I do?

I like having a few little pills too. Must have sunglasses! Lip gloss is fun, but I usually pick a lip balm so my hubby and kids can borrow too. Someone else has recently asked me to keep a maxi pad handy “just in case”. I agreed, and died a little. I also have a treat. Sugar saves lives around here. A little gummy worm can go a long way!!!

Sunglasses are on my head almost 90% of the time now that I moved here. I can’t leave home without them. The other two are goodies too. I almost always have a thing of fruit leather in my purse. It has certainly saved me before! {in fact, today}

Band-aids! With two young boys, I almost always need a band-aid. They make the boo-boo all better!

I always have a mini-sewing kit, sometimes a home made one but you never know when a little thread and/or scissors will be needed. I also always have a mini-first aid kit, for the same reason, Johnson & Johnson has a great one that’s only about 3″ square, I do add some extra band-aids, some pain relievers, and a Kotex tampon, one of the small collapsed ones. Other than that the rest varies, though I usually carry a few index cards, so that when I HAVE to remember something I can write it down quickly before I forget.

Ok, do you seriously sew things? I may have a safety pin…. I’m not sure I’d have the wearwithall to actually sew something when I’m out. 🙂
