Why should I declutter — it will just come back?
Decluttering is some of the ABSOLUTE best ways I have spent my time — but it doesn’t mean that I don’t sort of dread it.
Let me give you the 5 huge benefits of decluttering to get YOU started on this horribly awesome task!
But first — if disorganization is causing stress in your life — this might sound like you:
- You live in fear of losing something important
- It takes HOURS to clean up, not minutes because there’s so much to shift around
- Unexpected guests strikes terror in your heart.
- You just wish YOU could relax like everyone else, instead of constantly worrying about the state of your house.
Then, this course is for you. It changed how my life runs and I am finally able to relax. I think you’ll love it. You can even get 10% off with code PC10.
Lighten your emotional load
All that stuff carries an emotional burden. Often, we are still placing a “cost” on ourselves for buying a certain item or not using it like we thought we would.
That’s called a sunk cost.
We already bought the item, and now it’s time to let it find a new home.
And by DOING that, we are freeing ourselves from that burden we place on us for having/buying the item.
It really feels SO great to say — yup, I made a mistake but I’m done paying for it — and I’m ready to move on.
My friend Lydia has a great post on living with less!
I loved talking about decluttering in this podcast episode:
Buy Less
Whenever I declutter I’m reminded of ALL the stuff I don’t need anymore. And ALL the things I wish I hadn’t bought.
Then, when I’m at the store with that impulse buys — I’m able to walk on by…. and it feels so great.
You really realize how stuff takes up time. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Easier to organize
Yup, I run a whole course about organization — but the reality is that it is REALLY hard to organize without decluttering. The reality is that they go hand in hand, and you likely do it without thinking about it.
It just makes it SO much easier when you just have the essentials to organize.
This post tells you ALL about how to organize.
Great Example
When you’re able to separate things from yourself — you’re being a great example to your kids.
Also, showing kids that they are more important than stuff gives them added self-esteem and hopefully they’ll realize that people are more important than things.
Find Stuff
Oh man, I’m just not sure there is ANYTHING Better than finding something you were looking for! It’s just such a great feeling!
Decluttering lets you find the gems within the soil. Awesome-sauce.
So, there it is — a lot of decluttering is just taking the time to do it!
