First off, what is yule? It sounds dirty…….
Secondly… I don’t want you to think that we used our Disneyland photos to make you jealous. We did it, because strangers were taking the photos and C felt some urge to smile for them. I’m grateful for strangers. And, Stranger Things {but yet, I hate it at the same time….}
2017 has been a great year at our house, and I would love to fill you in on the minutia that fills our lives.
P is probably not our child. Ok, that might be strong… but seriously. That girl loves rainbows and unicorns and stickers. She hugs everyone she meets {seriously, that can’t be our genes} and is a giant ball of cheer. Unless required to clean her room or fold laundry and then she turns into a grumpy lion. Which, is why I only said she’s probably not our child.
S got his Eagle this year (I, personally, took great pleasure in making Eagle sounds whenever he was around me during the fall to bleak mid-winter months). He also decided that he wants to major in drama in college – to which his grandpa took the keen moment to explain opportunity cost associated with such a poor academic choice. It really took me back…. #memories
C is a senior in high school. He is not too fond of any of us, at least that is his outward appearance. He has been accepted into two schools and has one more to come back. It makes me want to RISE and SHOUT the thought of him moving out, but we’ll have to wait to see where he picks. We’re really proud of the adult he is becoming… now, get out.
Drew is working part time at a local community college. He also helps direct local community band. And he is playing at a local community Bethlehem pageant. He is locally well known and is building a community of people who loves music like he does. Now that Conner is no longer tethering us to Arizona he is also on a serious job hunt. We’re hoping to send you a new address next year (feel free to send us any band/online learning employment opportunities you feel impressed to share #networking).
Hilary has too many jobs, she’s too tired, and she barely pulled it together to make Christmas cards this year. She’s the Relief Society pianist and sometimes her friends pretend to do CPR on the hymn she’s playing… yup, it’s that bad. She still works at the hospital and is hoping to retire from PTO work this year. Fingers crossed.
We hope the reason for the season burns bright in your hearts this year.
With kids growing up and times changing, our thoughts of a baby so small to make such a big change in our hearts is especially tender. A time of giving, of smiles and laughter is a huge blessing.
And who knows – maybe we’ll move next to one of you in 2018 {hint, hint – nudge, nudge}.
All our love,
The Ericksons
And all my love to my blog readers. What a blessing you are in my family’s life.
This is our ACTUAL Christmas Card, sent to friends, and that’s why I share it here. A blessed Christmas and New Years to each of you!
Hilary
